SAP and Microsoft Deepen Cloud ERP Cooperation, Jointly Launch Business Suite Migration Acceleration Program

SAP is counting on technology partners to guide customers to its cloud-based S/4HANA ERP system, as the company plans to end mainstream support for its on-premises ERP Central Component (ECC) product in 2027.

"By joining forces, we provide partners with proven frameworks, shared resources, and scalable tools to tackle complex challenges," said Karl Fahrbach, SAP's chief partner officer, in Tuesday's announcement.

The bundled offerings aim to simplify migration by combining traditional ERP capabilities with data pipelines, analytics, and AI services for business processes targeting specific functions.

While Microsoft is the first hyperscaler to offer a Business Suite accelerator program, SAP has also recently expanded existing agreements with AWS and Google Cloud to facilitate the flow of ERP data across clouds.

AWS and SAP announced on May 20 the launch of a generative AI development program to help Accenture, Deloitte, and other ecosystem partners build agentic tools using ERP data and the hyperscaler's Bedrock platform,as reported.Initial use cases include real-time identification of financial anomalies and mitigation of supply chain disruption risks, according to Philipp Herzig, SAP's chief technology officer and chief AI officer.

In addition to integrating Databricks-powered Business Data Cloud on Azure, SAP is also connecting that data pipeline with Google Cloud's BigQuery data warehouse to consolidate data stored in ERP and third-party repositories. According to the May 20 announcement,SAP Business Data Cloud will be deployed in three Google Cloud regions later this year.。

SAP was among the first vendors to sign Google Cloud's Agent2Agent open protocolfor multi-agent AI orchestration in April,as covered here.Earlier this month, the two companies opened access to Google's Gemini family of large language models to SAP customers through the generative AI hub of SAP Business Technology Platform and connected SAP data to the hyperscaler's Agentspace tool-building platform,as detailed in the announcement.。
