Deep Dive
Microsoft's AI-focused partner program adjustments align with actions taken by its hyperscale cloud peers.
Earlier this week, Google Cloud established a$750 million partner fundto provide AI training and resources for partners. The company in Decemberrestructured its partner program, adding AI capabilities to the Google Cloud partner portal and creating incentives to drive co-selling, post-sales delivery, and collaborative software development.
AWS, the largest of the three cloud providers, has also followed a similar path since last year. In November, the company announced it would restructure incentives, simplify third-party provider benefits, and introduce third-party provider discounts, with the changes taking effect on January 1。
Generative AI and agentic AI have been central to AWS's strategy. The company introduced three agentic AI capability partner categories for software and service providers in November, and last month deployedagents to assist partners。
Before launching the Frontier partner badge last year, Microsoft had already adjustedits cloud marketplaceto encourage partners to use AI more. According to Dezen, these efforts are continuing.
"We know that to build credibility and deep expertise in AI, partners must use AI themselves first," Dezen said. "This isn't something you can sell automatically. Having real-world hands-on experience makes a partner's salespeople better sellers."
